The Space Coast Georgia Tech Club
exists as a Georgia Tech Alumni Association club to recruit the finest students possible for Georgia Tech by providing scholarships to highly qualified candidates from the Space Coast Area. Because of the Bright Futures program here in Florida this has become much more difficult.
The club is very fortunate to have an endowment(The Steve and Lynne Bussey Fund) that provides a contribution each year for scholarship awards. However, in order to attract the best students much more money is required. Some is contributed by matching funds from Tech. These funds have had to be disbursed over more and more clubs since many states have instituted lottery funded scholarships.
Therefore, the vast majority of the funds needed to provide scholarships to our applicants must come from direct donations and dues. The dues for 2007-2008 academic year are $20.00. Five dollars of the dues will be added to the Steve and Lynne Bussey Fund to build the endowment. The other fifteen dollars will go to the annual scholarship(s) that we award with a small amount going to events like our Freshman Sendoff that we had in August if we don't get enough Club Members to buy tickets and attend. The Club needs to host events and game watchings inorder to be ranked in higher tiers with the Alumni Association. Matching funds are doled out with consideration for club tiering, the amount of monies collected, and whether a club has an endowment or not. Since the matching funds are more thinly disbursed, it is essential to increase our direct donations and increase the Steve and Lynne Bussey Fund. You can either mail your dues and/or donations to:
